262-2879 (2622879) remanufactured engine control module — a direct-replacement ECM covering the widest slice of the D-series hydraulic excavator range, from the 324D through to the 390D L, plus 950H / 962H wheel loaders, the IT62H toolcarrier and C7, C9.3 and C18 engine builds.
D-series excavators work long shifts in dust and vibration, and the cores that come back show it. Every unit is opened, the board is ultrasonically cleaned, and the areas that suffer on this application — the sensor supply regulators, the injector driver bank and the solder around the two harness headers — are reworked with new components. Track and via continuity is verified, the board is re-coated against moisture, and the sealed housing is reassembled with a new gasket before the module is run and function-tested on a bench harness to factory-specified parameters.

Programming Required — The Module Arrives Without Engine Software
Because one number covers so many different machines, this module cannot be pre-loaded. A workshop with dealer-level service tooling has to flash it with the software matching your engine before the machine will start and before the pump control will see a valid engine speed signal. Please send us:
- Engine Serial Number (ESN) and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
- Clear photographs of the ECM label currently on the engine, every digit legible
- A photograph of the engine data plate with the arrangement number
- The machine model and serial number prefix — for example 324D L with its prefix code
Have an experienced technician carry out the change. Isolate the batteries at the disconnect switch, let the machine sit for a few minutes before pulling the connectors, and take care not to strain the harness where it runs along the engine frame — on D-series excavators the ECM loom is short and pulling on it is a common way to damage terminals during a swap.

Common Failure Symptoms
On D-series excavators an engine control module fault often shows up first as a hydraulic complaint, because the pump controller depends on engine data coming from the ECM. The table below sets out the symptoms that most often lead back to the module itself.

Rule Out The Cheap Causes First
Before ordering a module for a D-series machine, rule out the inexpensive causes: battery voltage under crank, the condition of the frame and engine ground straps, the ECM power fuses, and the state of both harness connectors. Water sitting in a connector shell is extremely common on excavators and produces exactly these symptoms. Fixing a ground strap costs almost nothing; replacing a healthy ECM does not.
