372-2906 (3722906) remanufactured engine control module — a direct-replacement ECM for Caterpillar 345C, 345D and 349D excavators, 6015 / 6018 hydraulic shovels, 770 and 772 trucks, 657 wheel scrapers, the 3512 generator set and C175-16 locomotive engine builds.

The machines this module runs are among the heaviest in the range, so the rebuild focuses on the stresses that come with them: sustained high underhood temperature and near-constant structural vibration. Cores are dismantled, boards are cleaned and inspected under magnification, and the power conversion stage, driver outputs and header solder joints are rebuilt with new components. The board is re-coated, the housing resealed, and every finished module is powered up on a bench harness and function-tested to factory-specified parameters before dispatch.

Programming Required Before The Engine Will Run

This module contains no engine application software when it leaves us. It has to be flashed and configured for your specific unit by a workshop with dealer-level service tooling. On stationary 3512 and C175-16 installations, the rating and protection settings need configuring as well. Please send:

  • Engine Serial Number (ESN) and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), or the unit serial number for stationary installations
  • Clear photographs of the existing ECM label with all numbers readable
  • A photograph of the engine data plate including the arrangement number
  • Machine or package model and serial prefix — for example 349D L, 6015 FS or CX35-P800

Use an experienced technician for removal and refitting. Isolate the batteries and the starting system first. On hydraulic shovels and locomotive installations, confirm the machine is properly locked out before opening the module connectors, and support the harness so its weight is not carried by the ECM headers while the unit is off.

Common Failure Symptoms

Large shovels, haul trucks and locomotive engine installations tend to reveal a failing control module under load rather than at idle. The symptoms below are the ones that most reliably point at the module on this application group.
