Product Details
▾
This engine monitor display panel is supplied as a complete kit — display module, 133-4860 industrial identification film, mounting bezel and fixing hardware — for Caterpillar industrial engines from C-9 through C-16 and the 3100, 3400 and 3456 series.
The part most people forget is the identification film. It is the printed overlay that sits across the front of the panel and tells the operator what each warning lamp means — oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, system voltage and the rest. Without the correct film the lamps still light, but nobody can tell which fault has been raised. Order a bare panel and you may find the old film has cracked, faded or torn during removal, and the job stops there.
This kit includes the industrial-specification film (133-4860), so the panel arrives ready to fit with the correct legend for an industrial engine installation. The bezel and mounting hardware are included for the same reason: a twenty-year-old bezel rarely survives removal intact, and a missing screw on a Friday afternoon costs more than the screw.
- Complete kit, not a bare panel — display module, identification film, bezel and fixing hardware supplied together.
- Correct industrial legend included — the 133-4860 film carries the icon set for industrial engine applications.
- Direct replacement fitment — matches the original panel cut-out, mounting pattern and harness connector, so no modification or rewiring is needed.
- New condition — supplied unused, in plain protective packaging.
- Broad industrial engine coverage — C-9, C-10, C-12, C-15, C-16, 3126B, 3176B, 3176C, 3196, 3406E, 3408E, 3412E and 3456.
- Sealed front face — gasketed housing intended for industrial enclosure heat, humidity and vibration.
- 6-month warranty — repair or replacement service if any fault appears within the period.
Important: Programming Is Required Before Use
This panel is not plug-and-play. Every engine carries its own configuration, and the unit must be programmed to match your installation by a qualified technician using approved service software before it will display correctly.
Please send us the following after purchase:
- The part number of your original monitor, plus a clear photograph of it
- A clear photograph of the machine nameplate (VIN plate)
Installation and removal of an engine monitor panel should always be carried out by an experienced technician. Isolate the installation from all power sources before any work begins.

Not Sure Which Version You Need?
Two numbers decide this order: the one on the rear of your panel and the one printed on the film itself. Our guide on how to read your panel and film numbers before ordering walks through where to find both, how to tell a film fault from a module fault, and what to do when the old film is too degraded to read.
The identification film supplied in this kit carries the icon legend for industrial engine installations. The same base panel is also used on marine engines, marine auxiliary units and SBF214 and SUF557 pumper packages, but those applications use a different legend and we list them separately as a panel without film. If your installation is marine or pumper rather than industrial, order that version instead — the panel will be the same, but you will get the correct icon set for what you are running.

Before ordering: read the number on the rear of your existing panel and, where the old film is still legible, the number printed on the film itself. Panels that look identical from the front can carry different legends behind the same housing. If either number differs from those listed above, send us photographs of both along with the machine nameplate and we will confirm the correct kit before you buy.

Common Failure Symptoms
▾
On a panel of this design, not every problem is electronic. The film and the bezel age too, and a panel that works perfectly can still be useless if the operator cannot read it.
| Symptom | What It Usually Points To |
|---|---|
| Warning lamp lights but the icon is unreadable | The film has faded, cracked or lifted. The electronics are fine; the operator simply cannot tell which fault has been raised. A film alone will fix it, and this kit includes one. |
| Icons do not match what the lamps are reporting | A film from a different application has been fitted at some point. The lamp positions are shared across variants but the legends are not — check the number printed on the film against your engine type. |
| Film peeling at the edges | Adhesive failure from years of heat cycling. Once it starts lifting, moisture gets behind it and reaches the bezel seal. Worth replacing before it becomes a water ingress problem rather than a cosmetic one. |
| Screen dark but the engine runs | Backlight or internal supply failure. Check panel supply voltage and the harness connector before assuming the module has failed. |
| Some lamps work, others never light | Individual lamp driver failure. Confirm by triggering the affected fault deliberately with a service tool — a lamp that has simply never been called is not the same as one that cannot light. |
| Readout drifts on a continuously running engine | Thermal drift in the input stage, common on industrial engines that run for days at a time. Note whether the error grows with running hours rather than appearing at random. |
| Bezel cracked or missing screws | Old bezels rarely survive removal. A loose or missing bezel breaks the seal against the panel cut-out, which is how moisture reaches the board on an otherwise healthy unit. |
| Corrosion around the rear connector | Failed seal admitting moisture. Clean and inspect the pins first — corroded pins alone produce the same symptoms as a dead panel. |
Separate the display problem from the reading problem. If the lamps light and the LCD shows values, the panel is working — what has failed is the film, the bezel or the seal, and those are what stop an operator using it. If nothing lights at all, check panel supply voltage, ground integrity and the connector before ordering, since those account for most panels that turn out not to have been faulty.
